As the animal shelter’s longest resident, Maybelline has had quite the journey. After arriving at the shelter heartworm positive, Maybelline underwent months and months of intense treatment. While undergoing treatment Maybelline was on strict kennel rest (no exercise, no play yards, no social outings) which caused her stress and dog reactivity to escalate. However, Maybelline is now medically cleared and heartworm negative! Shelter staff and volunteers have witnessed Maybelline’s dog reactivity become much more manageable since completing her treatment and receiving consistent exercise. She’s recently been on several group hikes and has even been made a few canine walking buddies. Maybelline is a social butterfly with adults and children, treat motivated, enjoys playing with stuffed toys, and loves car rides.
Rehoming Needs: Although Maybelline is getting more comfortable being around other dogs, she will need continued training to manage her dog reactivity. At this time the shelter recommends that she may be best suited as the only dog in the home.
